One Day in Dusseldorf: Old and New Architecture, Symbols and Lifestyle

Dusseldorf, Germany
Dusseldorf  is one of the 10 largest German cities, the capital of state Norh Rhine-Westphalia. There I was really surprised by the number of shops and cafes. And not places of interest but they catch tourist's eye. Notwithstanding this fact there are many objects that must be seen.

Kings' Alley, Dusseldorf, Germany
One of the most famous Dusseldorf places of interest is Kings' Alley. There and further a lot of birds live: ducks, geese, swans and others. Moreover they have special food. It is forbidden to feed them.

Due to so many birds you can treat some Dusseldorf streets as a park. Sometimes nett squirrels can be met.

But in whole city center is a great amount of shops and cafes.
Famous Russian writers Ilf and Petrov wrote in their masterpiece "The Twelve Chairs":
"There were so many hairdressing establishments and funeral procession bureaus in the town N that it seemed that people there were born only to shave, cut their hair and die right away".
In Dusseldorf it seems that people were born to eat and buy.
The center of Dusseldorf, old city, so called Alt Stadt is full of cafes. Very often they become obstacles for enjoying architecture. Moreover these streets are really overcrowded.

Great place just for relaxing is Rhine embankment.

One of the most interesting moments  for me was Frank Gehry architecture, so called Neuer Zollhof. Buildings of irregular shape look super modern.

In Dusseldorf people can find many Asian products and Japan restourants. I mean Immermannstraße. They say that the largest Japan community in Germany lives in Dusseldorf.
Boys doing cartwheel, Dusseldorf, Germany
Everywhere people can see the main Dusseldorf symbol - two boys do cartwheel. There a lot of legends connected wich this symbol. One of them tells about wedding procession. One of the wheel of the carriage broke. It was the sign that marriage will be misfortunate. In order to avoid misfortune one of the boys did a cartwheel.
German wisdom, Dusseldorf, Germany
Walking along the streets in Alt Stadt people can find a witty reminder:
"This fairytaile will never come true. Life teaches to be smart and saving".
But how can you be saving when there are so many honeypots arond?

In whole Dusseldorf seemed to me really dinamic and rich. It is interesting combination of old and modern architecture and I would like to see it again.
