Voronezh, Russia Admiring the beauty of Mount Fuji, Japanese artist Hokusai created engravings that the whole world still enjoys. What would he paint, looking at a gray skyscraper that «ripped» the view? During the pandemic and my illness I must stay at home. So what I see from my window?

Moscow, Russia Travelling is one of the most popular hobbies. Very often we want to visit different countries and forget about motherland. The more I travel to other countries, the more clearly I understand how little I have seen in my motherland. Today remembering all those fantastic sights I dream about new Russian trips and new adventures.  So, what have I already seen?

Voronezh, Russia Voronezh was founded in 1586 as a fortress in 500 kilometers from Moscow . The city with 400 year history was seriously damaged during the Second World War. More than 90% buildings in the city were destroyed. Voronezh was reconstructed to 1950: some old buildings were saved.

Galichya gora, Lipetsk region Galichya gora is a nature reserve in Lipetsk region. It is one of the smallest reserves in the world. The place is well-known because of its plants, birds and animals. There tourists can see ancient rock formations, visit the museum and look at different predatory birds.

Russian summer Sometimes summer days seem so long. You can think that summer will not end, but already in the middle of August I have felt that autumn is coming. Look at these photoes and remember your summer: sunny days and nature.

Scarlet Yar There is a place in Voronezh region where different ungulates live. It is situated in Voronezh and it is called Scarlet Yar. Scarlet Yar is a part of Voronezh zoo . There you can look at buffaloes, llamas, boars, deer, horses, asses and other animals.

Safari-park Kudykina Gora Kudykina gora is an old phrase, that has several meanings. According to one version Kudykina gora is a magic place where people can understand where to go. According to another version merchants said so when they went for goods in villages. In Russia there is also something like a proverb: To Kudykina gora to steal tomatoes. It is unknown why people began to use this phrase.

Voronezh state reserve The history of Voronezh state reserve began when Moscow scientists found there beavers. Earlier there was the opinion that all beavers were exterminated in Russia. After this in 1923 Voronezh state reserve was established. Nowadays you can see not only beavers in the reserve. Tourists can also look at rare plants, walk along picturesque pathways, visit museums and just relax being surrounded by Russian nature.

Kostomarovo Kostomarovo is the place where the monastery in chalk hills was built. There are several legends when the monastery was founded. Probably this place became the point where Christianity began to spread throughout Russia. There is the opinion that Сhristians from Byzantium founded refuge in Kostomarovo.

Divnogorie Divnogorie is the place in Voronezh region where you can enjoy historical heritage of Russia and its nature. Many centuries ago orthodox cave churhes were founded here, on the high bank of the river Don.

Peterhof Peterhof is situated not far from St.Petersburg on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. It has been summer residence of Russin emperors for 200 years. And today it is important cultural and historical center.

Spasskoe-Lutovinovo Outstanding Russian writer Ivan Turgenev spent his childhood in Spasskoe-Lutovinovo not far from Orel and lived there later. Nature was the source of his inspiration and he described it in many novels. 

Heroes of Japanese animation festival Festival of Japanese animation takes place in Voronezh every year. The first festival was organised 20 years ago. Today it is the holiday where people from different cities participate.

Orel Orel was founded in 1566 as a fortress. There is a legend that when people began to cut down an old oak a large eagle took off. People thought that it was the master of this place. Tsar Ivan the Terrible ordered to call the fortress in honor of the eagle. It is Orel in Russian.

Venevitinovo Venevitinivo is the homestead of the famous noble family, one of the oldest in Voronezh region. It is the place where you can see the homestead and learn a lot about Russian homesteads in whole. Moreover, it is the only museum of Dmitry Venevitinov, Russian poet and philosopher.

Nikolskoe-Vyazemskoe Nikolskoe-Vyazemskoe was the homestead of Tolstoy family. Leo Tolstoy, world famous writer, often visited it and worked here. Specialists in literature say that Nikolskoe-Vyazemskoe became the prototype of Otradnoe homestead that was described by Leo Tolstoy in "War and Peace".

March, Voronezh Every season has its own advantages. Traditionally people love spring for the nature awakening. In March birds began singing, snow began melting. In April we can bask in the sun and look at first flowers. In May people enjoy warmth and fresh greens. I will show you spring sights in March and April.

Yasnaya Polyana Yasnaya Polyana is the main homestead of outstanding Russian writer and philosopher Leo Tolstoy. It is situated in 12 kilometers from Tula. Leo Tolstoy was born here and in 82 years buried not far from his house.
