Kostomarovo is the place where the monastery in chalk hills was built. There are several legends when the monastery was founded. Probably this place became the point where Christianity began to spread throughout Russia. There is the opinion that Сhristians from Byzantium founded refuge in Kostomarovo.

There are three similar places in Voronezh region: Divnogorie, Kostomarovo and Belogorie. Probably they were connected to each other.

The monastery in Kostomarovo consists of the chirch and cells where monks lived. Moreover there is the hill with the cross on its top and with the chapel.

People can take part in excursion. But everyone should remember that monks live in the monastery. Women should put on a dress or a long skirt and don't forget a headscarf.
