Divnogorie - the Place of Chalk Hills and Cave Churches

Divnogorie
Divnogorie is the place in Voronezh region where you can enjoy historical heritage of Russia and its nature. Many centuries ago orthodox cave churhes were founded here, on the high bank of the river Don.

Divnogorie
Today people can visit the biggest cave church in Divnogorie. Churches were done in chalk hills. Even when it is extremely hot outdoor in the church it is quite chilly.

Divnogorie
There are five caves on the territory of Divnogorie. But visiting some of them without museum's staff  is not recommended. The biggest cave church was reconstructed. And now people can visit it.

Divnogorie
Divnogorie is at the same time open-air museum and nature reserve. Walking around you can see unique samples of flora.

Sometimes here different events are organised. One of them is Night in Divnogorie.

Divnogorie
I would recommend to spend in Divnogorie several days. One day is not enough if you want to feel the atmosphere of this fantastic place. You could walk at down and dusk and see fantastic sights when white chalk hills become pink and purple.

There is a small hotel in Divnogorie. So tourists can live hear.
