Dresden, Germany
Dresden with its cosy atmosphere has become the powerful source of inspiration for me. It is the place where you will find pleasant people, fantastic architecture, the place where you can rest and have fun.

There are many tourists in Dresden. Most of them spend there only a day. I believe there are so many places of interest that having such opportinity you should spend there several days.
Because of its architecture and picturesque place where it is situated Dresden is well known as Florence on the Elbe. During World War II the town was almost completely destroyed by air bombs. Citizens meticuously reconstructed it. Parts of old buildings were saved: they bacame the basic for the large-scale reconstruction.
Sappers from Soviet Union helped to clean the town of bombs. That is why there is Russian lettering on one of Zwinger walls: "The museum is checked. Bombs are not found".

Note that after World War II Dresden belonged to the GDR. Some places of interest were reconstructed to 2000. And now there are points where reconstruction continues.
Two main objects of the old city are the Dresden castle-residence and Zwinger.

And of course these two places are someting like magnets for all people visiting Dresden. Building of Zwinger was inspired by Versailles.

There you can not only enjoy the architecture, but also visit a lot of museums. For example, in the castle-residence there are different treasures of Saxony and large exhibition of armor of knights.

This hall in the castle-residence really impressed me.

In Zwinger you will find gallery with masterpieces of world-famous artists: Titian, Rembrand and others. There you will even see famous Madonna Sistina by Rafael Santi.
Fantastic sight to the historical center so called Altstadt is from the other bank of the Elbe.

Reconstructed Dresden is really various. Buildings of differnt styles are situated near to each other. One of the most unusual buildings is the former tabacco factory.

One of the most outstanding buildings also is the Church of the Virgin (Frauenkirche). It was thorougly reconstructed. Dark parts are old, light parts are new. The church was destroyed during World War II.

Walking in Altstadt you can imagine that Dresden is too calm. Then visit Neustadt - the district with narrow streets and great amount of shops, cafes and pubs. There is the place with special atmosphere of combination old town and youth culture. One of the most famous places there is Kunsthofpassage. It is several buildings decorated by artists.

All these objects are situated in the main Dresden park - Großen Garten. There you will also find the palace, that is now used like a place for different events: concerts, exhibitions and others.
