Pillnitz - Country Residence of Saxon Kings with the Water Palace

Pillnitz is a country residence of Saxon kings, situated on the outskirts of Dresden. It includes a complex of buildings, a park with ponds and greenhouses. Moreover it is located on the Elbe bank. So there people can simuoltaniously enjoy nature and architecture.

Pillnitz was built in Chinese style. Two Chinese palaces are connected by another palaсe that looks more austere. One of two Chinese palaces is also water palace. Its steps go straight down to the Elbe. There you can also see how much water rose in the river in different years.

The park with ponds, greenhouses and architectural pavilions adjoin the palace complex. Walking in the park you will find English and Chihese pavilions.

By the way, you can also enjoy exotic plants in the center of Dresden, in the botanical garden.
There are several museums in Pillnitz, but in winter and im the beginning of spring they are closed. So in winter time you can walk around and enjoy outside sights.

My second visit in Pillnitz was in the beginning of autumn.
In winter Pillnitz can seem strict and disolate. But in a sunny September day it is bright, exotic and very friendly.
