Knights' fights in Dresden Armoury

Dresden Armoury
Reading books about Middle Ages I have never thought that I will be able to see knights' might. I saw knight armour in Prague, but for me it was not so grand like in Dresden Armoury, where I was really impressed.

Dresden Armoury
Dresden Armoury is located in Dresden castle. It is one of the largest collections of knights' armour. The Armoury was found in 1409. And firstly it was just a storage of weapons, later it became the storage of dukes' richly decorated weapons.

The heart of exposition is weapons, connected with knights. Visitors can see armour in large glass cases. Some knights are on horseback. In the center of the hall tourists will see installations schowing fights those could take place in medieval tournaments.

I personally was shocked when I realized the weight of weapons. Now I understand why knights were so clumsy and I wonder how they could just moving in all those armours. It was difficult to withstand not only the knights, but also their horses. Horses had not only knights on their backs, they were also armored.

All these facts of course can know every schoolchild. And of course you should not go to the museum to learn these. You schould go if you want to feel knights' might and enjoy their armour decorations.

I think this museum will impress people who are interested in weapons and those who are just eager to look at something beautiful. You will be shocked by the elegance of the artwork and its luxury.

Not only adults had armours. Children of aristocrats could also have them.

Visiting Dresden Castle you can also look at other expositions which are located there. For example, you can see the treasures of Saxony.
