Leo Tolstoy Settlement - the Place Where Time Stopped

Leo Tolstoy
One foggy morning I came to Leo Tolstoy settlement. It is called in honour of one of outstanding Russian writers - Leo Tolstoy. Earlier this settlement was called Astapovo. In times of Leo Tolstoy there was a big train station. And there the author of "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina" had to leave the train because of his illness.
The head of the  station decided to give the writer his house. Six doctors suggested their help to Leo Tolstoy, but he refused. He died November 20, 1910. A lot of people arrived in Astapovo when only knew about the illness of Leo Tolstoy. Later they went to his homestead.

When Leo Tolstoy died, the clock at the railway station was stopped. I visited the station twice and every time I felt, that not only clock, but time there was stopped. It seems that in a second you can see the heroes of Leo Tolstoy masterpieces.

Except wandering around the station, you can visit the house, where Leo Tolstoy died. Now it is a museum. The decision to create museum was made right away the death of the writer. The head of the station and his family did a lot for this.

Here, in Lipetsk region, you can find something irreal. You will feel this in any day and in any weather.
