Moritzburg - the Castle of Cinderella

Castle Moritzburg is situated in 14 km from Dresden. There you can easily get into a fairy tale. The castle was built in 16th century as a country estate for hunting. Many people saw this castle in a film and didn't know that it is a real building in Germany. I mean the fairy tale "Three nuts for Cinderella". It was shot there in 1973.

Moritzburg was the place where lived the prince from the fairy tale. When I visited the castle there was the exhibition dedicated to this film. And everyone could get three nuts for good luck.

The castle in whole is not very big. It is surrounded by trees and water. Walk along and you will see how picturesque the castle is. It is one of the examples of so-called Saxon baroque. In reality it was built by order of duke Maurice.

Inside there are a lot of deer horns. You can even think that it is the main decoration of the castle.

Walking around the castle have a look at one of the steps and you will see Cinderella's shoe.

Moritzburg can be fairy if you like fairy tales. In any case it is the place that tourists should visit if they are interested in various castle architecture.
