Soviet Garrison Cemetery in Dresden

Soviet garrison cemetery, Dresden, Germany
Last summer I visited the Soviet garrison cemetery in Dresden, but writing about it was rather difficult for me. And now I just want to show that there is such a place in Dresden. I believe everyone must remember those years of World War II.

The cemetery was found in 1945. Until 1986, it was the cemetery of the Soviet army.

What you will see nowadays in this quiet place? Rows of graves with standard headstones. There are separate burials and mass graves here. But it was especially painful for me to look at the tombstone with the inscription "Unknown". How many of these unknown soldiers' graves are scattered around the world? My great-grandfather was also long considered missing in World War II.

Exemplary order and silence reign today in the Soviet cemetery. And standing there I thought that no one who was in the midst of the horrors of war should be forgotten.

By the way not far from the cemetery, near the Bundeswehr Military History Museum the monument dedicated to soldiers of Soviet army is situated.
