Personally
I love Moscow for its various architecture. Every my trip to Moscow gives new
emotions and explorations. Look at my guide and have wonderful holidays!
1st day
Being in
Moscow you must visit the Kremlin and the Red Square. It is the heart of
Russia, where many historical events happened. Just imagine what paving stone
here could «see». You will look at great stone walls of the Kremlin, its
towers, mausoleum (but only exterior, now it is closed for visitors). In
addition, you will see the place where tsar’s decrees were announced.
St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow |
Here St.
Basil’s Cathedral is situated. It was built in 16 century during the reign of
Ivan the Terrible in honor of victory under Kazan Khanate.
Monument to Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, Moscow |
Before it,
you will see the monument to Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, the leaders of
civil uprising that defeated the army of Poland and Lithuania.
GUM, Moscow |
One of
architectural objects of the Red Square is GUM. Don’t hurry to do shopping,
enjoy its architecture and wonderful decor.
One more
attractive place for tourists is Kilometer Zero, starting point for distance
measurement. Just stay on the point, make a wish and throw a coin over your
shoulder.
The Kremlin inside, Moscow |
The Tsar Cannon, Moscow |
The Kremlin inside, Moscow |
Of course,
it is not enough to see only Kremlin’s walls. Explore Kremlin inside, walk
along Cathedral Square, visit cathedrals, Armory Chamber with its treasures,
take photo with Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell.
Tired? You
can go through Alexander’s garden to Okhotny Raw where you can have a break and
eat. Before it pay attention to sculptures dedicated to fairytales’ heroes.
Princess-frog, Moscow |
After you
can wander the main streets. Some of them are only for pedestrians. For
example, Nicolskay street, Arbat Street. In summer here you will meet many
musicians, artists. In addition, there are lots of gift shops.
Zaryadye Park, Moscow |
Also you
can visit Zaryadye Park that is located near the Kremlin. You will see plants
from different climate zones of Russia, visit museums and eat.
Zaryadye Park, Moscow |
The most popular
place here is observation point above the Moscow River, where you will enjoy
wonderful view of the Kremlin and the Red Square.
2nd day
In the
second day I advice you take a look at skyscrapers in Moscow-City, visit VDNH and
one of Moscow palaces.
Moscow-City, Moscow |
In
Moscow-City you will walk among the skyscrapers, see different architectural achievements.
And don’t forget to visit observation point. A guide will tell a lot about
buildings and you will enjoy fantastic sights.
VDNH, Moscow |
Next step
is VDNH – the exhibition of achievements of the country. Such it was in USSR.
Now it is the place with interesting buildings and picturesque fountains. Earlier
in historical buildings you could buy really different things. Now there are
more museums. You can also visit dolphinarium.
Museum of Astronautics and Aircraft, Moscow |
Museum of Astronautics and Aircraft, Moscow |
My favourite museum here is
Astronautics and Aircraft. It is large space with different astrocraft. It will
be interesting even if you aren’t fond of technique.
You can
explore VDNH by yourself or take part in excursion.
Tsaritsino, Moscow |
In Moscow
there are many different architectural styles. If you want to learn more, visit
Moscow palaces. One of the great samples is Tsaritsino. Here there are the
palace, bridge, park with the pond and musical fountain.
Kolomenskoe, Moscow |
Another variant
is Kolomenskoe and Alexey Mikhailovich palace. Here you will find the
masterpieces of stone and wooden architecture. The palace is wooden. It is a historical
copy of destroyed building.
Izmailovsky Kremlin, Moscow |
Izmailovsky Kremlin, Moscow |
The third
idea is Izmailovsky Kremlin. It is really quaint and attractive. There are lots
of details that you can pay attention. Moreover, here you can visit souvenir
market.
3rd day (or alternative variant in
order of bad weather)
This plan
for those who want to visit more art museums. It will be also great for cold or
rainy weather.
Let’s begin
this day with Pushkin’s Museum of Fine Arts. Its collection consists of
masterpieces from different countries and epochs. You will see sculptures and
pictures that were the mirror of society liking and ideas of different centuries.
After
visiting the main building pay attention to The Gallery of European and
American Art XIX-XX centuries.
Christ the Saviour Cathedral, Moscow |
The next point is Christ the Saviour Cathedral. It is one of the main Moscow places of interest. Look inside, go around it and along the bridge.
Museon Park, Moscow |
After this,
you can use subway or go across the Crimean Bridge. On the other side, you will
visit Tretyakov Gallery XX century with masterpieces of Russian artists and compact
Museon Park with sculptures.
Peter the Great monument, Moscow |
You will also see large monument to Peter the Great.
Garage Museum, Moscow |
If you want
to continue walking, not far from here Garage Museum is situated. There you
will see objects of contemporary art.
While
travelling around Moscow look at subway stations. Some of them are really picturesque.
That was my
plan for 2-3 days in Moscow. Have a nice time!
If you have enough time visit also the cultural capital of Russia - St. Petersburg.
