Porcelain collection, Dresden
Saxon porcelain is the world famous brand. There are two places in Saxony closely connected with porcelain. The capital of Saxony Dresden has great porcelain collection, that is in Zwinger exhibited. Another place  is a small town not far from Dresden - Meissen. It is the town where porcelain was firstly produced in Europe. But porcelain manufacturing technology was invented in Koenigstein - the fortress that is also situated in Saxony.

To look at world famous porcelain visit Dresden and Meissen.
Before visiting these places and looking at porcelain in Saxony I thought that it can be only boring to go to porcelain museum. Earlier I always very quickly went through the halls with porcelain in art museums. But after visiting museums in Dresden and Meissen I can only say "Wow!".
Zwinger, Dresden
The porcelain collection that is now in Zwinger exhibited, was started by probably the most glorious Saxon elector Augustus the Strong. There are masterpieces from different parts of the world. And you can learn more about porcelain and just enjoy these pieces.

In Meissen Saxon porcelain manufacture is situated. And because of this the small town is well-known around the world during several centirues. There is porcelain museum belonging to the manufacture. There and also in Dresden shops visitors can buy porcelain. But pay attention for prices. Only one cup costs in general about 100 Euro.
Meissen porcelain is really luxurious. And it was always so. Aristocracy in Europe collected Meissen porcelain. Russian aristocrats in XVIII bought Meissen porcelain very actively. They say that even special storages for Meissen porcelain were made.
Meissen
These two collections show how different porcelain can be. It  can be the material not only for plates and cups. In both museums fantastic porcelain sculptures are exhibited. And some of them are really big. Like centuries ago special paint recipes are used in Meissen manufacture. Recipes are still kept in the strictest confidence.

The development of porcelain shows the development of art, the development of thought in general. So people can even learn more about those times when this or that masterpiece was created.
On the next photo you will see… a leopard.

So it is obvious that people creating porcelain didn't know how it looks. And it was normal some centuries ago when animals looked strange. It is so because most artists could only see pictures with exotic animals or used only their own imagination.
Writing about porcelain in Saxony I must also mention Koenigstein. In that fortress European porcelain was invented.

Looking at porcelain I realized how important it is to pay attention to details and be opened. If you want to learn something new in art or to enjoy something beautiful, look at Saxon porcelain.
