Moscow GUM Being in Moscow every tourist certainly visits the Red Square and GUM (Main Universal Store). It attracts Russians and foreigners because of not only the opportunity to do great shopping but also its architecture.

Museum of the battle of Kulikovo If you want to see modern museum, dedicated to Russian history, it is not necessary to go to Moscow or St. Petersburg, pay attention to the Battle of Kulikovo and area connected with it.

Bobur by Nicolay Polissky We used to enjoy art in museum and galleries. What about art in the open air? I explored it for myself visiting art-park Nicola-Lenivets in Kaluga region.  It is a picturesque place near the Ugra River. Here you can delight Russian nature and see modern art, architectural objects, created by the artist Nicolay Polissky and participants of the festival "Archstoyanie".

Lipetsk If you visit St. Petersburg, you will definitely learn that Peter the Great founded the city in 1703. It is well-known fact, but there is another town closely connected with the first Russian emperor. I mean Lipetsk that is situated about 1180 kilometers from St. Petersburg and about 100 kilometers from Voronezh, the cradle of Russian navy .

Goto Predestinatsia, Voronezh In the previous post, I wrote about the first Russian Emperor Peter the Great . One of his most outstanding acts was Russian navy creation. He was fond of sea from his childhood. Then he had little boat. When he became mature, he went to Europe to learn shipbuilding. In the late XVII century, ships were necessary for the Azov campaigns. Peter the Great chose Voronezh as a place where the navy would be built. Shipbuilders from all Russia and Europe went to Voronezh (it is located about 500 kilometers from Moscow and 1000 from St. Petersburg).

Oldenburg Princess' castle If you think that all great places in Russia are located in Moscow and St. Petersburg you are really wrong. There are lots in province. One of them is Oldenburg Princess’ castle located in Ramon near Voronezh. It was built in 1887 for Eugene of Oldenburg, granddaughter of Russian emperor Nicolay I, great-granddaughter of the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte - Josephine.

The monument to Peter the Great, Petropavlovskaya fortress, St. Petersburg Peter the Great was he first Russian emperor, outstanding person who really changed Russia.  Russian artists and sculptors create lots of masterpieces dedicated to the first Russian emperor Peter the Great. Now I am going to tell about two monuments to the emperor.
